Short Bio
Elva Cobb Martin is a wife, mother, and grandmother who resides in South Carolina. A life-long student of history, her favorite city, Charleston, inspires her tales of romance and adventure. She desires to share stories of courageous characters and communicate truths of the Christian faith to bring hope and encouragement. Elva Cobb Martin is a native South Carolinian. She is the 2020 president of American Fiction Christian Writers South Carolina Chapter.
Elva writes fiction and non-fiction. She enjoys a good love story and believes women who like to read romances should be able to find inspiring as well as exciting ones.
Her latest historical romance, Marisol, Spanish Rose, Book 1 in the Charleston Brides series is on Amazon and Georgia Ann, English Rose, Book 2 will be released Nov. 17, 2020.
She has two other romances, Summer of Deception, and In a Pirate's Debt. Blurbs and Amazon links for both novels can be found on the home page. All her novels have spent time on Amazon's 100 Bestseller's list for Women's Religious fiction
Elva and her husband are semi-retired ministers and former church planters. She now devotes her time to novel writing, leading writers’ groups, an internet prayer ministry, and ministering as a guest speaker. She is a former teacher and has acquired degrees from Anderson University and Erskine College and has taught in public school.
Her first indie publishing effort is a non-fiction mini-book, Power Over Satan: How to Discern and Defeat the Enemy's Plans. This short booklet is a primer on the believer's authority in Christ. The goal is to arm every believer with supernatural revelation and weapons to defeat all the enemy's attacks. Non-believers can also gain revelation about the struggles they face. She has contributed to three books, Reasons to Be Glad, published by Billy Graham’s Evangelistic Association; Voice of the Shepherdess, published by Sheed and Ward, and Divine Moments, compiled by Yvonne Lehman 2014. She has also hosted inspirational radio and television programs.
Elva married her high school sweetheart, Dwayne Martin. They are the parents of a law officer son and a long awaited grandson, Samuel. (They admit to being switch-toting grandparents). They live in South Carolina, and are active in a local congregation and in fervent intercession for America's Great Awakening. Elva enjoys gardening, crocheting, and reading inspirational novels. She loves green tea, chocolate anything, horses, and mini dachshunds.
